My name is Matt Amaro. I am a graduate of Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. where I studied photojournalism. During my time at Ball State, I worked as a photographer for the university magazine, Ball Bearings, the university newspaper, The Daily News, and also worked with the immersive learning project BSU at the Games, where I traveled to Sochi for the Winter Olympics.
After doing mission work all over the country, I searched for a way to continue his work. Telling the story of those less fortunate and helping those in need, lead me to photojournalism.
In May of 2014, I finished work as an intern and freelance photographer for the Arkansas Times in Little Rock, Ark. During my time with The Arkansas times, I was able to create a great broad spectrum of work on stories from local drag queens to rice farmers in Lonoke.
Over the past few years, I’ve found myself in retail management with a visual merchandising focus. I wish to pursue a career in photography and put my management and visual skills to work in something other that retail.
